happy valentine's day. in the spirit of the holiday, an appropriate news release came out this week:
http://www.emediawire.com/releases/2004/2/emw103691.htm
for those of you too lazy to click on the link, the article talks about a marketing firm's study that identifies 'the top ten u.s. cities in which to find a rich, single man':
- the san francisco bay area (including oakland & san jose)
- anchorage, alaska
- washington dc – baltimore
- sheboygan, wisconsin
- naples, fl
- the twin cities (minneapolis, st. paul, mn)
- rochester, mn
- boston, ma
- fort walton beach, fl
- dallas, texas
according to the study found at http://www.teasley.net, the bay area came out with the highest percentage of males (aged 25-34) never married, the second highest adjusted median income, and a single-male 'golden ratio' of 140% (140 single men for every 100 single women). in the study's own words, 'the combination of many rich single men and the fantastic beauty of northern california make for a great place to search for your guy.'
so all you single ladies in the bay area - be thankful! and all you single ladies not in the bay area - move here (or to anchorage or sheboygan)!

i am here in the bay area and where are those guys you're talkin about?!?!
hahaha (hey, you know neng too???)
happy v-day! =) and of san fran would be listed as numbero uno..becuase you're there!! why are you even surprised? hahaha =)
Does this take into account all the single gay men who have had committment ceremonies, but not legally married until a few days ago? Single, rich, but alas...hitting for the other team.
Not just the single gay men, but what about those the government thinks are "single" (i.e., not married) but who are in dating relationships--they're not exactly available. Or, Bert, is this a ploy just to get more women to come to the Bay Area?
Unfortunately, the marketing study on cities in which to find a rich, single woman is still unpublished...academia is the primary, but not only victim of this oversight
the study does mention the number of gay men in the area, and seems to argue that the numbers of men are still high even with that variable included: 'while the city of san francisco has a large percentage of gay men, the surrounding sf bay area has more high technology companies than anywhere else in the world. companies like apple, intel, hewlett packard and many others are all headquartered here. these companies employee many engineers, who tend to be male and make some decent money. '
i'm still waiting for that study on where to find single, rich women. sam, maybe that can be a thesis topic for you
yeah, where's the study telling me where to go for residency so that i can find nice single women???
Well, there is one for England (you have to scroll down a bit), but I don't know about America. Maybe American women-heavy cities are all in rural areas or something...
it's not working for me. at least not yet.
if you have them, i will come...
hi bert....yes, i had a really good time on saturday. and yes, i do still find time to go crazy! =D
